Just south of this location, the Cumberland Valley / Pennsylvania / Penn Central had a branch that went west to the large coal interchange yard with the B&O - named Cumbo Yard, which was a combination of the CUMberland Valley and B&O names. The Yard is completely gone, excpet for one track, that follows the old branch's alignment from the CSX main to I-81 to serve a large printing company. |

These intermodal cars are actually trash cars that are unloaded on the Y&S at Signal, which is west of Rogers. Some+big forlmer BAR woodchip hoppers, now owned by the NYS&W and used in trash service, are on the adjacent track. CQPA GP9 670 can be seen in the background, hiding ik the trees. |

In the same exact spot I saw them 2 months ago, just in a slightly different configuration, POTB 3771 and 4368 sit at Buxton in work train duty. Update... The 4368 is inoperable. It needs new wheels and the POTB Mechanical Forces are going to use th trucks from one of the "parts" BN units to fix her, but she needs turned on the wye in Hillsboro before this can happen. I hope I can be railfanning the day they do it! |
