George Lavacot's (aka Lavacot Locomotive Works) pair of old SP SD9s rest on the old Valley & Siletz main line. I thought these were usually parked in or near a building and were totally inaccessible, yet you could walk right up to these to get shots (in the morning, for best light) if you so desire. All that stuff in the foreground is part of the CWR plant, I believe. I don't know if the P&W owns the CWR plant or if it's a private concern. |

We did a power swap this morning, and we got Lavacot Locomotive Works SD9E 4433. I'm stopped to make a cut on these cars which are destined for the BN. This side, the class light is bmanked over, but the other side still has it, so I turned it on :) Somehow, even though I had it on the "FRONT" setting, the MARS light was on on the rear. The switch to make the selection is very hard to operate and I had to question wether or not it was functioning properly, I guess it wasn't. |
